Luiza Leite | About
Since I got my first camera, 15 years ago, photography has become a major part of who I am. Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, I embraced photography while in college, and then moved to the U.S. to complete the Photography program at the New England School of Photography in Boston, where I started m professional career concentrating in portraiture and documentary essays.

A highlight of that work is “The Bridge Series” where I shot the Big Dig construction site in Boston, which images were seen in many galleries and is now part of important collections.

After moving to San Francisco, in 2003, I started also shooting weddings and music festivals, while adding essays to my ever-growing Travel & Documentary portfolio. I'm a storyteller, a lightstalker and an extremely communicative person. I usually will not photograph someone without knowing anything about them - I talk, I mingle, I have fun while I'm taking photos, aiming to deliver up-close and personal work that represents "the moment". I hope you have as much fun browsing through my work as I had living through it.

I’ve worked with beautiful locations such as Harbin hot Springs and also have done a lot of interior design and architecture documentation.

My latest project has been documenting the electronic music scene, mostly in San Francisco, since 2010. I’m particularly interested in shooting outdoor festivals and have been official staff photographer for events large and small such as Earthdance, Raindance, Symbiosos, and Sunset campout among others. I also shoot for a number of party promoters in SF including “As You like It”, Sunset, Dax presents, Liason and Raindance Presents. I also have been documenting Burning Man, an amazing anual gathering in the Nevada Black Rock Desert, for 5 years.

Galleries will be frequently updated, so make sure to check back often. Images are available for purchase and I appreciate your support!
